music theory (as applied in classical, jazz and pop) to nature and
psycho-acoustics. This basis really does underlie all we hear and
play, and many students find it useful and insightful to know this natural
basis for the cultural conventions of music composition and performance (and
also to tie it in to
ear training
if desired).
I've refined methods for simplifying eidetic mastery of all the forms of the diatonic and pentatonic scale shapes.
I'm experienced in some of the improvisation training methods adopted from
the Indian pedagogical tradition by
John McLaughlin (Jimmy Page's guitar teacher
and leader of the
Mahavishnu
Orchestra).
I'm also a student of the tradition of legendary and pioneering jazz virtuoso
Lenny Breau, and am experienced in aspects of the
Lenny Breau Style such as harp harmonics and keyboard-style jazz chord-melody playing.
